As a Software Architect in the Communication Area, you will serve as a senior technical leader guiding strong architectural and engineering practices across several teams building AAC solutions. You’ll collaborate closely with engineering, design, and product partners to drive scalable, maintainable, and high-quality software.

As a key technical voice in the Communication Area, you’ll help teams align on shared architectural direction, support sound technical decision-making, and bring clarity and structure to complex discussions. This role blends deep technical engagement with influential leadership, facilitating common understanding, mentoring others, and nurturing a culture of continuous improvement.

This is a senior individual contributor role (no direct line management) reporting to the Engineering Area Lead. Your work will strengthen the technical foundations of our products while amplifying the impact of the entire engineering organization.

In this role, you will:

• Provide deep technical leadership within the Communication Area, particularly in AAC content modeling, language development, accessibility, and cross-platform architecture.

• Drive alignment through inclusive, transparent decision-making involving engineers, designers, and product managers.

• Guide senior engineers in understanding business priorities and technical constraints to ensure decisions are aligned with Tobii Dynavox’s long-term strategy.

• Mentor senior engineers by modeling best practices, offering architectural guidance, and supporting their technical growth.

• Collaborate with Principal Engineers, Technical Leads, and Product Designers to shape and prioritize work that balances short-term needs with long-term scalability.

• Champion high technical standards by supporting architecture reviews, improving documentation, and strengthening cross-team collaboration.

• Clarify and communicate technical vision, bridging detailed implementation concerns with broader strategic goals.

• Identify and help shape modernization strategies for legacy components and systems.
• Stay current with industry trends in AAC, accessibility, and software architecture, bringing insights into strategic planning and decision-making.

• Explore and advocate for new technologies and architectural approaches to improve performance, capabilities, and accessibility of our products.

What We’re Looking For

We’re searching for someone with:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Software Engineering. Master’s degree preferred.

• 7–10 years of development experience.

• Experience with multiple programming languages: C++, C#, and Swift preferred.

• Extensive experience in software architecture and designing scalable systems.

• Strong collaboration and communication skills and a passion for shared ownership.

We would be even more excited if you also have:

• Experience in AAC, accessibility, or hardware-integrated systems.

• A background working across multiple platforms and technologies.

• A passion for user-focused and mission-driven product development.

• Experience with eye-tracking technology.

Please note: this is a full-time, permanent role, with expectation to be in the office 3 days a week.
