The Role

The HIL Rig Support & Automation Engineer supports Rig Maintenance and validation across safety-critical vehicle domains including Autonomous Drive, ADAS, Protective Safety, and Vehicle Motion Control. The role focuses on enabling & maintaining Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) test environments that support Continuous Integration (CI)–based development, ensuring high test quality, effective automation, and early fault detection.

Main responsibilities

• Support tester teams with HIL test rig preparation, configuration, and troubleshooting
• Capture, test environmental requirements from product teams and translate them into technical solutions
• Update and implement HIL rig solutions aligned with product and CI needs
• Develop and maintain test automation solutions for product teams
• Perform fault tracing and root-cause analysis in test rig environments
• Update and maintain test rigs in terms of hardware, software, and configurations
• Create and maintain documentation for rigs, setups, and configurations
• Conduct high-level fault slip-through analysis and support improvements to test strategies

Knowledge / Experience

• Automotive industry experience with HIL Systems for 8 years or more.
• Knowledge of automotive electrical and electronic architectures
• Experience with embedded systems
• Strong competence in software verification and fault tracing
• Experience with Continuous Integration (CI) infrastructure
• Programming skills in CAPL, C, and Python
• Hands-on experience with CANoe and Vector tools for development and testing
• Experience with dSPACE tools for HIL development
• Knowledge of automotive diagnostics protocols and tools, such as CAN, Ethernet, LIN, and related interfaces
• Experience with MATLAB/Simulink
• Proficiency in Git for version control
• Comfortable working with command-line interfaces
• Experience using SSH for remote access and system interaction
• Experience working in an Agile development environment
