SSAB is taking the lead in decarbonizing the steel industry, with our Nordic transformation making significant progress. We are seeking an open-minded, committed, and motivated individual to join us as a Business Development Analyst through the European Graduate Program. Placement in Borlänge Sweden or Helsinki Finland.

About the program and position

The European Graduate Program is designed to attract and develop newly graduated talent to ensure SSAB’s future critical competencies. Over the course of 14 months, you will be engaged in a series of workshops and lectures that provides in-depth knowledge of SSAB’s operations, leadership practices, and a wide network of professional contacts.

The program includes visits to SSAB’s production sites in Finland and Sweden, as well as an individual trip to a business location of particular interest. Throughout the program, you are paired with a senior mentor who provides personalized guidance and support. The program concludes with a final presentation to SSAB’s management team, where you will present your learnings and experiences.

As a Business Development Analyst, you will serve as a pivotal techno-commercial professional, blending technical proficiency with business acumen. In this role, you will contribute to business development initiatives, craft effective go-to-market strategies, and help shape the roadmap for scaling volumes our decarbonized steel: SSAB Zero from our Nordic assets. You will also play a key role in identifying attractive steel using segments-applications and successfully implementing go-to-market initiatives to ensure a sustainable stream of innovative solutions. Your ability to integrate technical insights with commercial objectives will be key to driving growth and operational success.

Main responsibilities

  • Coordinate and contribute to developing the commercial roadmap for ramping up decarbonized steel volumes
  • Track and analyze market dynamics in decarbonized steel, including competitor activities, industry standards, regulatory changes, carbon pricing, demand-supply trends, and price premium developments
  • Identify high-potential steel market segments to maximize medium- and long-term value creation.
  • Support evaluations of business potential through competitive analysis, product-application suitability, gap assessments, and development of innovative solutions.
  • Drive implementation of go-to-market strategies to convert opportunities into successful business outcomes.
  • Assist in building robust business cases and crafting compelling value propositions for identified solutions, including sales presentations, reference cases, and delivering training.
  • Facilitate communication and alignment across internal stakeholders, such as sales, technical development, product development, and product management
  • Provide support for ad hoc business development initiatives and projects as needed


About You

  • Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Engineering, or a related field
  • (Graduated within the last 24 months or soon to graduate)
  • Proficient English skills (spoken & written)
  • Excellent presentation skills
  • You have a structured, organized way of working
  • Willingness to learn and open-minded
