This marks the beginning of a transformation that can drive sustainability in ways we can only begin to imagine. During the program, the position will initially be based at SSAB in Borlänge and will then transition into a permanent role at SSAB in Luleå.

About the program and position

The European Graduate Program is designed to attract and develop newly graduated talent to ensure SSAB’s future critical competencies. Over the course of 14 months, you will be engaged in a series of workshops and lectures that provides in-depth knowledge of SSAB’s operations, leadership practices, and a wide network of professional contacts.

The program includes visits to SSAB’s production sites in Finland and Sweden, as well as an individual trip to a business location of particular interest. Throughout the program, you are paired with a senior mentor who provides personalized guidance and support. The program concludes with a final presentation to SSAB’s management team, where you will present your learnings and experiences.

In the role as Process Engineer, you will hold a key position in fulfilling the company’s strategy related to process and quality development by contributing to a more digitally driven production. You will lead and implement improvement initiatives and new ways of working using digital tools. The role offers a broad local network in Borlänge as well as across other production sites, primarily Luleå. Travel between locations may occur.

As part of the transition toward fossil-free steel production, construction of a new facility in Luleå is currently ongoing. Therefore, the Process Engineer role will initially start in Borlänge, where you will work closely with existing process developers within the Cold Rolling department. You will gain knowledge and experience in Borlänge and later take on a central role in the startup of the new facility in Luleå by training colleagues and transferring the expertise gained during your time in Borlänge

Main responsibilities

• Initiate and lead both small and large development projects to continuously improve products and facilities in line with defined goals
• Create process models for digital monitoring
• Analyze relevant data to enable fact-based decision-making and present and visualize results
• Train and educate colleagues and new employees

About You

• Holds a Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in Materials Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Process Engineering, or another relevant field
• Has graduated within the last 24 months or will graduate in Spring 2026
• Has very good proficiency in both the Swedish and English language
• Is aware that the work location will be Luleå after program ending
