We are seeking a talented and motivated Forming Specialist to join our team and help drive innovation in advanced forming technologies. About the program and position

The European Graduate Program is designed to attract and develop newly graduated talent to ensure SSAB’s future critical competencies. Over the course of 14 months, you will be engaged in a series of workshops and lectures that provides in-depth knowledge of SSAB’s operations, leadership practices, and a wide network of professional contacts.

The program includes visits to SSAB’s production sites in Finland and Sweden, as well as an individual trip to a business location of particular interest. Throughout the program, you are paired with a senior mentor who provides personalized guidance and support. The program concludes with a final presentation to SSAB’s management team, where you will present your learnings and experiences.

In this position you will become an expert on sheet metal forming. You will learn and develop your skills supported by our senior experts and researchers in our R&D partner network. In your daily work you will collaborate with our customers to develop solutions that optimize strength, lightweight design, and productivity. Your key responsibilities will include modeling and simulations, material data analysis, development of test methods, solving technical challenges, and sharing knowledge. As a Forming Specialist you will play a key role in creating high-performing, sustainable products using advanced steels.

Main responsibilities

• Collaborate closely with customers to design efficient and sustainable solutions for formed parts using advanced steels
• Apply state-of-the-art software tools to model and simulate forming processes, enabling accurate prediction and resolution of potential challenges
• Develop testing methods and tools to characterize materials; validate, analyze, and manage material data effectively
• Provide guidance and support to customers and internal teams on forming processes, troubleshooting, and technical recommendations
• Create and deliver tailored training materials, workshops, and seminars to meet customer needs and enhance technical knowledge

About You

• Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Engineering, or a related field
• (Graduated within the last 24 months or soon to graduate)
• Experience with CAD software and simulation tools
• Basic programming or scripting skills (Python, MATLAB) for data analysis and automation
• Excellent English skills, both written and spoken
• Knowledge of Swedish and a strong ambition to become fluent
