Arbetsbeskrivning

Keen to push the frontiers of multiphase reactor modeling and accelerate the scale-up of emerging net-zero technologies? Join us at the Department of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering! About us  Our research group at the division of Chemistry and Biochemistry advances multiphase flow and separation science to accelerate industrial innovation and implementation. About the research project   The project aims to develop hybrid quantum–classical approaches for modeling multiphase flows governed by complex, nonlinear dynamics across multiple scales. The postdoctoral researcher will investigate how to develop complement/augment classical CFD methods with quantum algorithms/techniques. The work lies at the intersection of multiphase flow physics, numerical modeling, and quantum computing. Who we are looking for  The following requirements are mandatory:  • A doctoral degree or an equivalent foreign degree in chemical engineering, mechanical engineering, applied mathematics, or a closely related field. This eligibility requirement must be met no later than the time the employment decision is made   • Strong background in computational modeling and numerical methods • Experience with multiphase flow modeling (e.g., TFM, CFD-DEM, DNS, LBM) • Solid programming skills • Experience working in Linux/HPC environments • Ability to conduct independent research and publish in peer-reviewed journals • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English  The following experience will strengthen your application:  • Knowledge of quantum computing concepts, quantum algorithms, or quantum-inspired methods • Experience with hybrid quantum–classical algorithms or optimization methods • Background in uncertainty quantification, reduced-order modeling, or machine learning • Experience collaborating in interdisciplinary research teams • A doctoral degree obtained within the last three years prior to the application deadline. What you will do  • Develop hybrid quantum–classical methods to improve simulation and prediction of multiphase reactors. • Design, implement, and benchmark numerical algorithms  • Run and analyze simulations  • Collaborate across disciplines (e.g., quantum computing, computer science) Contract terms   The position is a temporary full-time employment for two years with the possibility of a one-year extension.  The position requires physical presence throughout the entire employment. A valid residence permit must be presented by the start date, otherwise the offer may be withdrawn.  What we offer  • As a postdoc at Chalmers, you are an employee and enjoy all employee benefits.
