Saltmagasinet Mat & Dryck is an Italian restaurant located in the heart of Örnsköldsviks Gästhamn, where guests enjoy genuine Italian cuisine in a warm, relaxed atmosphere. We pride ourselves on high-quality, traditional Italian dishes — from hand-made pastas and stone-baked pizzas to seasonal à la carte menus — all crafted with great ingredients and attention to detail. Our location also serves lunch in a welcoming space that’s popular with locals and visitors alike, combining a passion for Italian flavours with a vibrant social setting by the water.

Role Overview

We’re seeking an experienced Head Chef with a passion for Italian cuisine and strong leadership skills to oversee our kitchen operations and a team of 4-6 kitchen employees. You’ll be responsible for maintaining the highest standards in food quality, creativity, and consistency — from menu planning to execution — while upholding excellent kitchen discipline.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage a team of 4-6 kitchen employees and all kitchen operations to ensure exceptional food quality and presentation.
  • Develop and innovate menus rooted in Italian culinary tradition, with a creative seasonal approach.
  • Train, mentor, and inspire kitchen team members.
  • Ensure compliance with food safety, hygiene, and health regulations.
  • Oversee ordering, inventory, cost control, and smart kitchen management.
  • Collaborate with restaurant management to support service flow and guest satisfaction.


Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Head Chef or similar senior kitchen role (minimum 2-4 years), preferably within Italian cuisine.
  • Deep knowledge of Italian cooking techniques and culinary traditions.
  • Excellent leadership and team management skills.
  • Strong organizational and time-management abilities.
  • Proficiency in spoken English (required) to communicate with staff and international guests.
  • Commitment to quality, consistency, and culinary excellence.
