Essentia Protein Solutions in Stidsvig is looking for an Automation Engineer

Essentia Protein Solutions is a global company producing high premium ingredients for consumption. Our animal protein solutions improve functionality, taste and nutritional qualities in various foods and beverages. With a strong focus on competitiveness and supply chain excellence we turn every process into a value stream, for example biproducts.

On our factory in Stidsvig, Sweden, we produce bone broth from bones from various species. On a yearly basis we produce 15 000 metric tons of calcium as a biproduct from the bone broth production. We are looking for an Automation Engineer to develop automation in our plant in Stidsvig.

About the Role

You are responsible for developing and maintaining the long-term automation strategy for our production facility. You will identify, analyse, and solve automation-related issues, drive investment planning, and ensure that our systems operate safely and reliably. The role requires strong collaboration both internally and externally.

Responsibilities and tasks

You will get the responsibility of automation at Essentia, which will include the following tasks:

Develop methods and routines for preventive and corrective maintenance with a focus on operational reliability.

Plan maintenance activities short- and long-term.

Program PLC and HMI using TIA Portal and Simatic Manager (Siemens).

Work with iFix SCADA.

Handle communication interfaces such as Profinet, OPC UA, and ASi.

Experience with Sattcon systems is advantageous.

Perform or lead root cause analyses.

Define technical requirements and budgets (Systems Engineering) to support long-term operational needs.

Commission new equipment by evaluating, testing, troubleshooting, and verifying function against design requirements and cost specifications.

Produce technical documentation and reports as needed.

Qualifications & Experience

Education

University degree in Engineering/Automation or a relevant technical field, or equivalent experience from vocational education (YH).

Experience

Preferably experience from the food or process industry.

Skills

Strong analytical, structured, and detail-oriented approach.

Programming skills within automation systems.

Ability to build strong internal and external networks to solve technical challenges.

Proficient in English.
