Your Role and Responsibilities

Mining is fundamental to the global shift toward sustainable electrification, providing the raw materials essential for renewable energy infrastructure and advanced technologies. From steel for construction to minerals for battery production, the industry underpins progress in clean energy. Central to this process are systems that enable safe and efficient resource extraction, with electrification reshaping how they operate. At the same time, automation is revolutionizing mining practices, enhancing precision, safety, and productivity across operations. Together, electrification and automation are driving new standards of performance and sustainability, redefining the future of mining.

As Engineering Manager Electrification and Automation, you will lead the Mining and Materials operations team in Sweden. You will manage and develop a team of engineers, oversee delivery of mine hoist projects, and set strategic directions for automation and electrification. We are seeking a strong leader with proven management skills and the vision to drive innovation and transformation.

Key responsibilities include:

You will set the strategic direction and oversee the development and execution of engineering operations, ensuring alignment with business objectives. Your responsibility will be to improve team performance, manage compliance with safety and cybersecurity standards, and guarantee delivery of high-quality solutions that meet customer expectations. This role calls for a visionary leader who can foster innovation, build organizational capability, mentor engineering talent, and collaborate across functions to achieve sustainable business growth.

  • Provide clear leadership and direction to the engineering team, ensuring timely delivery, quality outcomes, and margin improvement.
  • Shape and align engineering strategy with both global and local business objectives, driving long-term success.
  • Oversee project execution, ensuring delivery on time, within budget, and in compliance with quality and safety standards.
  • Set priorities and approve work plans, resource allocations, proposals, engineering estimates, and risk/opportunity analyses.
  • Champion continuous improvement, enhancing processes, tools, and methodologies based on customer and stakeholder feedback.
  • Strengthening customer relationships and actively support business development initiatives through strategic engagement.
  • Guide teams in resolving complex challenges, providing oversight and direction for solutions across Europe and internationally.

Qualifications for the Role

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in engineering or a related technical discipline, combined with strong leadership credentials.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in managing engineering teams within industrial or mining environments.
  • Proven track record of leading complex, project-driven organizations and delivering results through others.
  • Solid knowledge of safety, cybersecurity, and quality standards, with the ability to embed them into team practices.
  • Demonstrated success in managing budgets, optimizing resources, and achieving performance targets.
  • Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills, with experience in customer and partner engagement.
  • Familiarity with agile methodologies and continuous improvement frameworks, applied at organizational level.
  • Ability to lead cross-functional teams, foster collaboration, and build a culture of innovation and accountability.
  • Fluency in English and Swedish, both written and spoken, with strong interpersonal and leadership presence.
