Assignment Description:
We are looking for a Senior Backend/Data Engineer to join our dynamic team.
What You Will Work On
- Gain deep expertise in settlement, revenue, and cash-processing systems, understanding how they support global financial operations, compliance, and strategic decision-making.
- Design and implement scalable backend and data solutions that process millions of daily transactions, ensuring reliable cash application, settlement, and financial reporting.
- Build intuitive, self-service tools that enable Finance teams to configure product-specific rules and workflows independently.
- Develop modular platform components that encode core enterprise processes, improving consistency, maintainability, and reuse across the organization.
- Collaborate closely with Engineering, Finance, and Product stakeholders to design systems that are auditable, secure, and highly resilient.
- Contribute to large-scale modernization initiatives, including the rebuild of the historical settlement system and expansion into the Payment Fees domain.
- Promote engineering best practices through strong architectural thinking, performance optimization, testing discipline, and operational excellence.
What You Bring
- Deep expertise in either backend engineering or data engineering, with the ability and willingness to work effectively across both areas.
- Experience working with large-scale transactional or financial data platforms in production environments.
- Strong advantage: hands-on experience with batch or streaming frameworks such as Spark, Flink, or Beam (preferably with Scala), and/or experience building scalable backend services in Java.
- Solid foundation in system design, data structures, algorithms, and distributed system fundamentals.
- Familiarity with cloud-native development and deployment; experience with Google Cloud Platform is a plus.
- Ability to think critically about system architecture and design for scalability, maintainability, and auditability.
- Excellent communication skills and proven experience collaborating with Engineering, Finance, and Product teams.
- Comfort working in fast-moving, ambiguous environments with a focus on usability, configurability, and long-term sustainability.
- Strong commitment to code quality, automated testing, documentation, and continuous improvement.
