Assignment Description:
We are looking for a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our dynamic team.
What you will work on:
- Contribute as an integral member of the Neutron Chopper work package and support the delivery of scientific instruments across multiple project phases
- Integrate components designed by partner facilities into the master CAD model and ensure proper configuration management
- Participate in system assembly, machine installation and related operations within laboratory and assembly hall environments
- Generate, update and maintain 2D drawings and 3D models in CATIA V6, including conceptual, draft, detailed and manufacturing documentation
- Produce 2D designs from 3D input, create 3D models from 2D input and develop designs from requirement specifications
- Manage CAD data within the designated CAD management system
- Produce, update and review technical documentation to support design, manufacturing and installation
- Provide installation coordination on site and prepare 2D installation drawings and associated documentation
- Follow up on manufacturing activities, monitor production performance and conduct engineering quality and acceptance inspections
- Review mechanical drawings and engineering packages according to mechanical standardization norms and codes, including GPS tolerancing and ISO standards
- Document and present work clearly and professionally, including reviewer responsibilities within the mechanical engineering discipline
- Manage and prioritize workload independently to meet project milestones and evolving project needs
What you bring:
- Higher Technical or University degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related engineering field
- Solid knowledge of mechanical engineering principles and experience in additive or composite manufacturing
- Minimum 2 years of mechanical CAD design experience and at least 1 year of hands-on CATIA design experience
- Experience in tooling design and application of coatings based on epoxy resins
- Familiarity with design maturity processes, versioning and release workflows
- Experience with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) applied to production drawings
- Knowledge of maintenance and installation drawings, including industrial applications
- Experience with technical documentation and configuration management
- Relevant experience designing mechanical apparatuses for specialized scientific or technical environments is an asset
- Engineering experience in one or more of the following: radiation background, vacuum, pressure, gas flow, magnetic fields, low-frequency RF, high temperature, cryogenics, electrical or electronics systems
- Experience in mechanical design supervision and optionally acceptance testing
- Strong initiative, self-motivation and ability to work autonomously
- Ability to follow instructions, communicate effectively and propose pragmatic technical solutions
- Flexibility to adapt to evolving project needs and shifting priorities
- Structured working approach with strong planning, prioritization and results orientation
- Excellent communication skills, strong problem-solving abilities and proactive issue identification
- Excellent written and spoken English; knowledge of additional European languages is an advantage
