About the company

MicroDri is a startup that was started in 2019 together with the defense and security company SAAB. Based on expertise and technology from SAAB, the company is developing a microwave-based solution for wood drying where you can follow and adapt the drying process on an individual level instead of drying large packages of wood at the same time as is done today.

The vision is to become a global leader in flexible, cost-effective and sustainable microwave-based drying that leads the industry in the transition to emission-free wood production.

Together with two of the largest sawmill companies in Sweden, SCA and Holmen, MicroDri is now working to develop and manufacture the first industrial prototype of the microwave system that will be delivered to a customer during the year. It is a very exciting phase that is happening at a high pace and there are great opportunities to shape your role in the company.

Your Role

As a Senior Mechanical Engineer at MicroDri, you will play a crucial role in developing our technology and product. You will be responsible for the mechanical and system engineering aspects, working closely with our internal team as well as external partners and experts from various industries. This role offers the opportunity to collaborate with specialists in microwave technology, automation, materials science, and industrial production, ensuring that our solution meets the highest standards of efficiency, reliability, and scalability.

You will be a key player in scaling our technology from prototype to industrial implementation, with significant opportunities to shape both your role and the company’s future.

Main Areas of Responsibility

• Lead and execute mechanical development from concept to final product, ensuring efficient and scalable designs.
• Design, develop, and optimize mechanical systems for microwave-based drying, focusing on performance, durability, and industrial applicability.
• Ensure compliance with industrial requirements, safety regulations, and quality standards.
• Coordinate and oversee work related to mechanical design, prototyping, and construction, ensuring smooth integration with other system components.
• Conduct technical analyses, validation, and propose improvements to enhance efficiency and reliability.
• Collaborate with the team to align mechanical development with the company's broader technical roadmap and innovation goals.

Additional Responsibilities

• Work closely with external partners, suppliers, and consultants involved in mechanical and technology development.
• Evaluate and analyze test results, providing data-driven recommendations for improvements.
• Support the implementation of development plans to drive industrial scaling and commercialization.

Who You Are

We are looking for someone with solid experience in mechanical engineering and product development. You are used to working on complex projects and have strong problem-solving skills. You are analytical, self-driven, and passionate about developing innovative solutions.

Your background:

• Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field.
• 6+ years of experience in mechanical design, product development, or system engineering.
• Experience working with industrial products, machinery, or automation solutions.
• Experience collaborating with external partners, suppliers, and consultants.
• Comfortable working in an iterative development process, from concept to product.
• Proficient in CAD and simulation tools.
• Fluent in English (Swedish is a plus).
