As a Level Design Manager you will be responsible for supporting and managing the level design team leading them to create best in class Roblox experiences.
You will support the personal development of the Level Designers, helping them grow their skills and ensure their work is aligned with project requirements and the company's goals. Your primary responsibility will be to grow and lead a high performing Level Design team to deliver best in class experiences for our players and clients. You should also have had hands-on experience doing level design and working in engine.
The role is a primarily a managerial role with accountability for the design output and success of your team. You will be expected to take part in the full employee lifecycle, from hiring and onboarding of new level designers, to giving clear and actionable feedback to designers to motivate them to be their best selves, to handling tough conversations when development veers off track.
You should have a great understanding of what makes a fun and engaging multiplayer game level layout, and how experience/level design on Roblox works. Direct Roblox experience is not necessary, but an understanding of how the platform works and eagerness to engage with it is.
At The Gang - a lot of our work is with brands such as Amazon, Wimbledon, and Vans. Previous experience working with brands in the gaming space is also beneficial, but not essential.

Who you are
We believe that the person we are looking for is someone who has strong interpersonal skills - you should be comfortable having tough conversations, providing constructive feedback, and building strong relationships with colleagues. You are someone who can inspire others and build a team culture, while also setting standards and expectations for how everyone should work.
Ideally you have at least five years of experience in the games industry, of which at least 3 years should be level design specific experience. You also should have prior experience in a leadership role - ideally within the games industry, but all leadership experience of creative teams is of interest. You are likely someone who has worked at a few different companies and seen multiple ways of structuring projects and teams, and are ready to bring these perspectives in to build up new processes from scratch.
Since this role is primarily a management role first and design role second, you should have strong organizational skills. You should be able to build and maintain structures and processes to help the design department achieve more with less friction. You should also feel comfortable with defining and driving a vision for the Level Design team within the studio as well as aligning this vision with the broader company goals.
Direct Roblox experience is not required - but you will be expected to learn and work with Roblox Studio as part of the role. Additional experience with other platforms such as VR, Mobile and Console is great, and also Fortnite UEFN.
Our games are played by a variety of age groups, with Roblox users being as young as 6 going over 18+. An understanding of how to work with different age groups for game is also beneficial.
Since we do work remote, you should also be comfortable with mentoring, developing, and collaborating with employees in a remote setting. As our company language is English, you are expected to be fluent, both written and spoken. We can only consider candidates based in Sweden or Portugal or the United Kingdom, though you can live in any city. For the right candidate, we can discuss relocation.
