We are now looking for a CMC Capability Business Analyst to join our IT Early Science department on a 12-month temporary contract.

In Early Science, we have highly skilled scientists in our labs who experiment and support complex drug projects. The environment is driven by scientific and technical innovation with a high level of diversity in workflows, data, and vendors. The R&D IT Chemistry, Manufacturing, and Controls (CMC) capability drives digitization in two business areas, cutting across both complex synthetic modalities & biologics, that combined deliver crucial activities when developing new pharmaceutical products. CMC Capability involves partnering with the Research and Operations functions to ensure potential new products have the required pharmaceutical properties that can be delivered to the patients, and secondly defining the manufacturing practices and product specifications that must be followed and met to ensure product safety and consistency between batches.
Accountabilities:
The Business Analyst (BA) has a passion for helping improve the user experience in the early sciences. Working with key business leads and the R&D IT Platforms to analyze the needs and input into the organization, design, and data flow of the systems, models, and processes - all with a drive for user simplicity and great experience. This role requires someone that can partner with and lead our business teams to truly understand the 'why' of the solution; how it aligns with critical initiatives, align with the vision and capabilities of the various R&D IT platform teams whilst being able to delve into the detail of 'how' the solution will work from a functional user perspective. The Capability BA will understand the science domain and its strategic direction, they will have knowledge of many if not all the products supported by the various R&D IT Platforms.
Your key activities will include facilitating business workflow mapping sessions and conducting interviews with domain experts to capture critical insights. You'll collaborate closely with Business Partners to build compelling cases for new technology implementations, ensuring alignment with technical team needs and cost considerations.
Engage with stakeholders at all levels, including Steering Teams, departmental meetings, and technical groups, to present findings and updates. Actively participate in PI Planning sessions, working with teams to define functional and technical requirements. Translate these into detailed design specifications, covering Functional Design, User Interface Design, and Business Process Design.
Leverage complex data analysis to deliver actionable, data-driven recommendations, helping to shape the product roadmap and drive impactful business decisions.
Essential Skills/Experience:
* Effective communication skills to engage and influence multiple teams.
* Solid ability to translate scientific needs to IT requirements to developers whose understanding of the science is limited.
* Understanding of the R&D space in the life sciences domain.
* Knowledge of modern technology capabilities.
* Experience with data pipelines and modern analytics tools and capabilities.
* Familiarity with adapting to evolving processes and implementing improvements.
* Be aware of modern, agile software development practices and help develop and evangelize a great product and user-focused culture.
* Expertise with process tools like JIRA, Confluence, and an understanding of GIT and CI/CD tools.
* Exposure/knowledge of wire-framing and prototyping tools (e.g. Axure, Balsamiq).
Desirable Skills/Experience:
* SCRUM master or Project Manager certification.
