We are seeking a Design Engineer to join our global Customer Order Engineering (COE) team. You will be primarily responsible for customization designs for customer orders and quotations, product care design tasks, and technical support to manufacturing and other COE-teams globally. In this position, you will report to the COE-Manager. This position is mainly located in Sala, Sweden, but we are happy to offer flexible working arrangements, including hybrid options. Despite this, we see physical presence at the office in Sala as a key success factor.
Team you belong to
The Customer Order Engineering (COE) group in Sala designs world-leading slurry pump assemblies adapted to the needs of Metso's customers. Together, the group produces designs, manuals, and articles for quotes and orders for complete assemblies with pumps, motors, drives, and protection. For this efficient team, we are now looking for a Design Engineer. The group you will work in consists of six designers, three material master data handlers, and three IOMS creators. You will belong to a global organization with teams in Sweden, the USA, India, Brazil, and Peru.
What you'll do
As a Design Engineer, you are responsible for made-to-order design solutions for customers all over the world for slurry pumps, hydro cyclones, and hoses according to customer requirements.
In this role, your daily tasks include:
* Creating 3D and manufacturing drawings utilizing Metso's current design software based on standard designs and calculations. Maintaining data and part numbers using the Product Lifecycle Management system (PLM).
* Creating outline drawings for customers and assembly, and detail drawings for our operations.
* Performing/initiating basic strength evaluations/calculations.
* Assisting with problems regarding assembly or parts incorrectly fabricated with internal operations and external suppliers.
* Performing documented product safety reviews as part of the daily design process.
* Developing new solutions independently and sometimes leading the design scope in order projects.
* Identifying the needs for design changes from production requirements as well as quality and procurement needs.
Who you are
* Bachelor's degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering and/or equivalent professional experience and a general interest in Design engineering.
* 1-2 years of experience in the use of 2D-drafting and any of 3D-CAD programs such as Solidworks, Autodesk Inventor, AutoCad, Catia and PTC Creo.
* Knowledge/experience in any of the PLM systems. Previous working experience in Autodesk vault/Teamcenter is merit.
* Knowledge and interest of the Mining industry specially pump industry and/or experience in multiple technical industries is a merit.
* Good communication skills and ability to work proactively, communication involves both written and spoken Swedish and English.
