Who We Are
At Volvo Cars, we are committed to making bold digital visions a reality. We aim to lead the automotive world by creating a connected ecosystem that simplifies our customers' lives while pursuing a Zero Collision future. Our Research & Development (R&D) division for AD and ADAS Platform consists of about 200 dedicated professionals focused on active safety, driver assistance, and collision avoidance functions.
We collaborate closely with various stakeholders, including function owners, software developers, and sensor teams working on LiDARs, cameras, radars, and ultrasonic sensors. Within this innovative environment, we design platforms that include system design, high-level software architecture, software integration, and verification, partnering with top-tier sensor suppliers to drive automotive excellence.
What You'll Do
As a System Design Engineer for Ultrasonic Sensors, you will play a central role in component development. You will design the Ultrasonic Sensor system architecture and define its interfaces to ensure seamless integration with the Core Computing system. You will manage the breakdown of functional and non-functional requirements into modules, components, and interfaces, ensuring they align with technical standards and project goals.
Collaboration will be at the heart of your role, as you’ll coordinate with Solution Architects, sensor suppliers, and sensor fusion teams. You’ll balance evolving platform requirements while considering hardware, software, and system design constraints. Your work will involve adapting to tools like System Weaver, Team Center, and Elektra while maintaining a structured approach to problem-solving and project execution.
Who You Are
You are a passionate and detail-oriented system design professional with a background in electronics, mechatronics, or software development. With more than four years of experience in system design, you have a proven track record in managing complex projects and working with cross-functional teams. Your understanding of system safety standards, including ISO 26262 and Cyber Security principles, strengthens your ability to develop secure and reliable system solutions.
You are technically skilled in tools and protocols like Ethernet, TCP/IP, and CAN, with additional expertise in Python, Simulink, or C/C++. Your strong leadership skills enable you to guide teams effectively, delegate tasks, and ensure project milestones are met on time. You excel in communicating complex technical concepts clearly and enjoy fostering collaborative relationships with diverse stakeholders. A valid EU driver’s license (B-level) and fluency in English complete your profile.
Join us at Volvo Cars, where your work will shape the next generation of premium vehicles and drive the future of safe and intelligent mobility.
