Job Description

As a Staff Engineer in the Merchant Group, you’ll have the opportunity to tackle complex engineering challenges at scale, crafting innovative solutions that empower merchants of all sizes to thrive. You'll be key in shaping the technical direction and building products that real people use every day – setting technical direction, fostering alignment across teams, mentoring engineers to ensure we deliver high-quality outcomes efficiently and predictably.

Our mission is to help merchants grow their businesses and streamline operations through innovative technology solutions. Whether it’s designing scalable systems, enhancing merchant experiences, or delivering new initiatives, you’ll play a key role in shaping the future of how merchants succeed with Wolt.

Qualifications

What we're looking for:

• Proven experience as a staff-level engineer, delivering high-quality, scalable and reliable software in complex and scale-up environments
• Deep expertise in system design, architecture, and distributed systems, with a thoughtful and pragmatic approach to balancing speed, reliability, and scalability
• Proven ability to lead significant technical projects across multiple teams, driving technical direction and fostering effective team dynamics - especially in ambiguous or evolving situations
• Effective communication and technical leadership skills, with an emphasis on building shared understanding to align stakeholders, foster collaboration and deliver impactful, merchant-oriented outcomes
• Experience mentoring and developing other engineers, fostering a culture of learning and growth, and helping the team continuously raise the bar on technical excellence.

You might also have:

• Experience in the food delivery, e-commerce, or logistics industry, or familiarity with merchant-focused solutions
• Expertise in one or more programming languages (e.g. Golang, Kotlin, Python), experience with Kubernetes for container orchestration, and familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g. AWS) to build scalable, high-performance products

Additional Information

📍This role can be based in one of our tech hubs in Helsinki, Berlin or Stockholm, or you can work remotely anywhere in Finland, Sweden, Germany, Denmark, and Estonia.
