About the new Joint Venture

Volvo Group and Daimler Truck are creating a joint venture to build a common software-defined heavy-duty vehicle platform and dedicated truck operating system that will revolutionize how trucks operate and interact. They will make them smarter, more connected and more sustainable, and we need entrepreneurial minds to drive this change. In an agile, startup-like environment headquartered in Sweden’s tech hub, Lindholmen, you’ll have the freedom to innovate, take ownership and make a lasting impact on how the world moves.

The joint venture is expected to be completed in the first half of 2025, subject to obtaining all required regulatory approvals.

The products of this new joint venture will be the Software Defined Vehicle Platform, including the connectivity platform, and corresponding toolchains and SDKs.

Key Responsibilities

We are now looking for a CTO for the planned Joint Venture. For this role you need to have extensive global experience of leading organization in different technical areas.

Strategic Planning:

• Develop and implement comprehensive technical roadmaps for hardware and software product innovations, including instrument clusters, in-vehicle infotainment systems, propulsion systems, and central electronics.

• Create and manage technical roadmaps to ensure alignment with business goals and market demands.

• Conduct strategic analysis of the competitive landscape and supplier competencies to optimize department development goals.

Business Case Development:

• Develop robust business cases for software and electronics architectures in commercial truck and bus platforms.

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure business cases are aligned with overall company strategy and objectives.

Team Leadership and Organizational Development:

• Several years of experience of leading leaders position in a global context, in different technical environments.

• Experience from leading global organizations with team members in different sites.

• Foster a collaborative vision and create organizational development plans to raise team member competencies of fundamental strategic importance.

• Encourage and engage extended staff in creating a positive, supportive, purpose-driven department work environment to deliver high-quality products and software.

Operations Management:

• Create operational targets and lead throughout the organization.

• Providing the right conditions to enable delivery of products, software solutions, and services with high quality, on-time delivery within allocated budgets.

• Increase team output and performance utilizing continuous integration and deployment methods in conjunction with lean visual process indicators.

Qualifications:

• Msc in relevant field, preferably mechanical engineering/business administration.

• Proven experience in strategic planning and creating technical roadmaps for hardware and software product innovations.

• Strong background in developing business cases for software and electronics architectures in commercial automotive industry.

• Extensive experience in leading and developing global teams, with a focus on organizational development and team member competency.

• Demonstrated success in operations management, including setting and achieving operational targets and goals.

• Expertise in continuous integration and deployment methods, with a track record of increasing team output and performance.
