Arbetsbeskrivning
We are looking for a highly motivated, and goal-oriented candidate with a background in Materials Science and Engineering or equivalent.
Welcome to the department of Materials and Manufacturing. We are a vibrant multidisciplinary research environment that advances the state-of-the-art knowledge and fosters the development of highly skilled researchers and professionals. The department cooperates with various national and international research institutions and industrial partners and is engaged in basic and applied research projects. Co-production with industrial partners is a strong characteristic of our project portfolio, both with large companies and SMEs. One of the research directions is aluminium and light alloys research.
Within this research direction, we work on both primary and secondary aluminium alloys to support a sustainable development of the foundry industry. The formation of the microstructure in casting and forming processes, and correlating it with (thermos-physical and mechanical) properties, are of interest.
The focus is also on the development of the actual casting and forming process and tooling. The end game is to gather data and develop descriptions allowing for life-span prediction of the cast and wrought components in use. We work towards zero or near zero emission processes that can produce sound components using recycled materials with a high material efficiency and zero or near zero material losses.
Our offer to you
To advance your career in a vibrant, international and multidisciplinary research environment.
Dynamic Research Environment: Work alongside highly skilled researchers and professionals, where your development is a priority.
Collaborative Opportunities: Engage in partnerships with renowned national and international research institutions.
Industry Engagement: Participate in co-production and applied research projects with leading industrial partners.
Cutting-Edge Projects: Contribute to both basic and applied research initiatives that make an impact.
The work is to take part in a major effort in reaching zero emissions in alloy manufacturing. Part of the job will be at Jönköping University and part of it will be at the Mission 0 House by Polestar Performance AB.
The primary objective of is to develop zero-emission alternatives to the carbothermic reduction of minerals. Our goal is to find methods that bypass such carbon-intensive approaches, thereby eliminating the environmental footprint of metal production, as a major source of man-made greenhouse gas emissions. To achieve the goals, the Postdoc position will address:
Fundamental Analysis and Theoretical Framework Building
Metallothermic and Hydrogen Assisted Reduction process optimization
Materials Characterization
