Let's introduce ourselves
Connected Experience is a unit within R&D. Our vision and strategy are to maximize the attractiveness of owning and using a Volvo, make all cars connected and provide a continuously enhanced experience for both new and existing cars. The agile release train "Remote Functions" is responsible for delivering the remote control aspects of our world class Volvo Cars app. The app we provide allows our customers to, for example, start climate, set charging timers or lock and unlock the doors, either from your phone, tablet or your watch.
What you'll do
Your purpose as a System Designer, together with your colleagues in your agile team and the product owner, is to provide stepwise (business) value to the larger solutions/systems (via the Agile Release Train - ART). With main focus on system design, you will make sure that our customers get the best possible system with regards to functionality and quality of the Volvo Cars app. We also expect you to be on top of technology evolution and provide new ideas to continuously improve the product and our processes.
The product purpose is to give our customers remote access to the car from the comfort of their couch. Your focus is on system design and making sure our customers get the best possible system with regards to functionality and quality within the connectivity area. #LI-DNI
What you'll bring
For you to fully enjoy this opportunity, we believe that you are a result-oriented individual with problem solving focus and good ability to adapt to constant changes. Business acumen, integrity and courage are characteristics that describes you very well. You are self-driven individual, someone who is positive and analytical. You need to be able to present the results in a structured and understandable way and take the ownership for the product.
You embrace teamwork, collaboration and are eager to learn and develop new competences. Experience from working in the automotive or telecom industry is a clear advantage to succeed in this role.
We see that you have a BSc degree or higher in Software- or/and Electrical Engineering, or equivalent experience. +5 years of system design, strong communication skills and EU driver license B.
In addition, you’ll need experience and competence in the following areas;
• System design within large distributed systems
• Connectivity technologies 3G/LTE, WiFi, BLE, GNSS, Ethernet, CAN, USB
• Mobile App experience
• Experience with both in-car and cloud communication as well as different protocols used
