Position description
The purpose of the position is to give the employee an early opportunity to develop his or her independence as a researcher and to create the conditions for further acquisitions of qualifications after completing the doctoral degree. The position is part of efforts to underpin the future supply of skills. The position is a temporary employment of 2 years.
As a postdoc in this role you will do research within the area of distributed embedded systems for industrial automation systems within the scope of two KKS-funded projects, MARC (Mälardalen University Automation Research Center) and SEINE (Automatic Self-configuration of Industrial Networks).
SEINE is aiming to develop novel techniques, industrial tools and validators to support automatic self-configuration of predictable industrial communication networks. Within this goal, as a postdoc you will focus on developing techniques to analysis and verify the timing properties of industrial networks while the re-configuration can be done during run-time of the networks.
MARC is a large initiative at MDU focusing on advancing automation using cutting-edge research and education. As a postdoc you will mainly focus on designing and configuring converged networks for such advanced automation systems.
You will be active in teaching and education in both bachelor and master levels in various courses relevant to distributed embedded systems, including but not limited to, creating new course topics, developing new labs and projects, giving lectures, and active in course developments.
We are looking for a postdoc who thrives in a collaborative research environment and is passionate about teaching and mentoring, as work duties include:
- Teaching and course responsibility at both undergraduate and postgraduate level.
- Supervision of theses and PhD students.
- Research and securing external funding for projects within the research focus on the environment.
- Collaborate with industry and academic partners.
Qualifications requirements
As an applicant you are required to have a PhD degree in computer science or computer engineering. You must have completed the degree no more than three years before the end of the application period. You have not previously held a position as a postdoctoral researcher in the same or related subject area at MDU that exceeds one year.
You have strong knowledge in computer networks and security topics in the computer networks and in real-time embedded systems. You also need strong knowledge in timing analysis of real-time systems and in programming languages such as C/C++. You also have knowledge in network device configurations and experimental analysis of techniques.
As an applicant you should have very good communication skills in English, both written and spoken.
Assesment criteria
For this position, particular emphasis will be placed on the following:
- Experience in publications for high-rank journals and conferences within the field of studies.
- Experience in configuration of industrial networks.
- Experience in developing demonstrators within the field of studies.
- Experience in cooperation and collaboration with industries.
It is a merit if you also have:
- Knowledge in Time Sensitive Networking and analysis of that
