Assignment and Scope
The purpose of Volvo Cars’ Steering department is to create the best Steering system to our customers when it comes to Safety, Sustainability and Steering Feel.
The responsibility/ownership of implementing a new steering gear in our next generation vehicles will require high coordination/collaboration skills and very high understanding for the steering system and its impact on the rest of the car.
The Steering Gear in our next generation vehicles is developed by a full-service supplier. The status of the program today is that we are in the implementation phase of our two first vehicles.
Deliverables and responsibilities
Develop and continuously improve the quality of the steering system according to VCC procedures.
Follow the technical/logical Plan for the competence area and VPP (volvo project plan)
Together with system architects, principal engineer and attribute team draw up specifications and requirements for the component and communicate them to potential suppliers with proper documentation.
Work in close collaboration with
Attribute leaders (safety, vehicle dynamics, etc.)
Manufacturing
External Suppliers
Etc.
Define test plans, perform acceptance and integration tests and review test results
Ensure the work is delivered as per specified acceptance criteria and definition
Project management - Drive and secure quality, cost and timeplan
Experience and background
We believe you have passion for SW with several years of hands on experience in SW development and you are eager to develop and continuously improve the quality of the architecture for the steering system according to VCC procedures.
You have a M.Sc. in Controls and Mechatronics, Electronical or Computer Science Engineering or equal.
You are fluent in English (spoken and written) and have a driving license (B) and drives on a regular basis.
More than 5 years of hands-on experience in the following

Cybersecurity
You are also self-organizing and has a full knowledge and able to work independently in Volvos Product Development Processes, Systems and Tools
