At the School of Innovation, Design and Engineering our students are studying to be for example innovators, entrepreneurs, illustrators, information designers, network technicians and engineers. We have five research specializations with different research profiles and research schools. Our work takes place in cooperation with and in strategic agreements with companies, organisations and public authorities in the region.

Eligibility
Access to third-cycle courses and study programmes at a higher education education as well as basic eligibility requirements and assessment criteria, are regulated in the Higher Education Ordinance chapter 7 §§ 34–41(SFS 1993:100). A full-time employment as a doctoral student is attached to this third-cycle studies which corresponds to four years.
Position description
In the context of the Onto-CompAss project at Software Center (https://www.software-center.se), we are offering a PhD student position in the area of Applied Ontology and Knowledge Engineering.
Onto-CompAss stands for Ontology-based framework for Process & Product Assurance and Legislation Compliance. The project aims at contributing to advancing the state of the art in knowledge engineering in the context of Process & Product Assurance and Legislation Compliance.
This PhD student position focuses on research aimed at:
(i) developing ontology-based practices for legal compliance and assurance,
(ii) developing ontology design patterns for process and product compliance and assurance;
(iii) developing competency-driven query mechanism for legal compliance and assurance;
(iv) applying the findings on industrial case studies.
Qualifications
For basic eligibility, the following is required:
• A degree at an advanced level.
• At least 240 higher education credits, of which at least 60 are at an advanced level.
• Equivalent knowledge acquired in Sweden or abroad through other means.
Specific eligibility requirements include having the following:
• a master's level degree i Computer Science.
• Students with equivalent knowledge can also be admitted.
Assessment criteria
Prior to employment, consideration must be given to the ability to assimilate third-cycle courses and study programmes at a higher education. We will use the following assessment criteria:
• A solid documented background in computer/software engineering.
• Sound verbal and written communication skills in English
• Documented subject knowledge of relevance to the area of research
• Communication skills and ability to work both individually and in teams with researchers from both academia and industry
• Analytical skills
