We now offer a Technical Expert assignment within the field of thermal systems NVH and sound quality The position is in the Driving Experience department, which is a part of Global Vehicle Engineering in the Engineering organisation at Volvo Cars in Gothenburg. The Driving Experience department supports the strategic direction of “For life. Freedom to move in a Personal, Sustainable and Safe way.”. We organise competence in dynamic attributes such as vehicle dynamics, brake attributes, performance & drivability, road noise, wind noise, propulsion NVH, climate & thermal NVH, solidity, operational sound quality, audio & ANC performance, interactive sound design and trimmed body acoustics & dynamics. In close collaboration with the design and release teams we take responsibility for a great driving experience for our end users.
What you will do
The position is responsible to drive research and pre-development of the thermal systems from an NVH point of view to create a data driven low noise implementation. The role delivers scientific and strategic input, addresses and resolves key technical issues as well as global surveillance, including customer needs and benchmark, within the area of expertise, specifically:
Job Responsibilities:
• Lead pre-development of NVH of thermal systems towards higher energy efficiency
• Drive development of efficient analysis methods and implement in conceptual studies
• Support teams in complex analysis tasks
• Define and drive research and strategic knowledge building for the organisation utilizing state of the art competence centra, e.g., academia or institutes, as well as benchmark within area
• Simplify transition from testing in virtual to physical environment and vice versa
• Drive implementation of fleet data in decision making
• Contribute to external exposure of Volvo Car’s personal and sustainability leadership (e.g., through expert groups, scientific articles, and public outreach)
• Act as a "go to person" in area of expertise
• Teach, mentor and coach in the area of expertise cross the organization
What you will bring
For this position we are looking for a candidate with high competence and experience in aeroacoustics, structural dynamics, energy efficiency and thermodynamics. You need to have experience from analysing sound and vibrations using numerical methods and measurement tools such as Nastran, STAR CCM+, HEAD Artemis Suite or Müller-BBM PAK. We see that you have an MSc or PhD degree in mechanical engineering, technical acoustics, engineering physics or similar. You also have a broad network in the area and excellent communication skills. Experience of leading and development of individuals and teams is meritorious.
You are known for your great analytical capability, your customer focus, result orientation, scientific foundation and visionary. You are also a true team-player with a sense of accountability, comfortable taking own initiatives when needed.
