As the Senior Director of Quality, you will be responsible for the comprehensive management and strategic alignment of quality departments to ensure that all processes meet rigorous customer and regulatory standards.
Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Leadership & Strategic Oversight: Provide vision and direction for all quality functions, aligning departmental goals with overall business objectives.
Mentor and develop department leaders to build a cohesive and high-performing quality team.
- Production Quality (APQP): Oversee Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) initiatives, ensuring robust quality planning and process controls during product development and production phases.
- Quality Technology: Lead laboratory operations supporting production, including testing and validation processes.
Ensure that all laboratory activities comply with industry standards and support production needs effectively.
- Quality Compliance: Ensure adherence to all relevant standards and certifications, including IATF 16949, ISO 9001, VDA requirements, and other automotive quality mandates.
Oversee warranty and customer feedback processes to drive improvements and minimize product failures.
- Complex Quality: Supervise the Complex Quality team to ensure root cause analysis, process optimization, and effective resolution of intricate quality issues.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with Operations, Engineering, Supply Chain, and R&D to align quality objectives, streamline processes, and promote a culture of quality throughout the organization.
- Continuous Improvement: Champion continuous improvement practices as the quality functional lead utilizing Lean, Six Sigma, and other methodologies to enhance product quality and operational efficiency.
- Risk Management: Develop and oversee risk management strategies to pre-empt quality issues and implement effective contingency plans.
- Customer Focus: Maintain strong relationships with automotive clients to understand their quality expectations and ensure satisfaction through proactive communication and issue resolution.
- Performance Metrics: Establish and monitor KPIs across all quality functions.
Utilize data-driven insights to drive performance enhancements and report progress to senior leadership.
We believe that you have:
- A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Quality Management, or a related technical field; advanced degrees preferred.
- 15+ years of experience in automotive or battery manufacturing industry, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role.
- Extensive knowledge of industry standards such as IATF 16949, ISO 9001, VDA requirements, and APQP.
- Demonstrated success in managing cross-functional quality teams and fostering collaboration across departments.
- Expertise in quality methodologies, including Six Sigma, Lean, and problem-solving techniques (e.g., 8D, FMEA).
- Strong leadership skills with a proven ability to develop and mentor teams.
- Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills to interface effectively with clients, senior leadership, and cross-functional teams.
- A proactive approach to risk management and continuous improvement, with a track record of driving sustainable changes in quality performance.
