This position is part-time and requires living on a private Island in the Swedish archipelago on a rotating schedule. 14 days on Island, 14 days off. Experience and know-how around boats, including navigation and comfortable driving smaller boats is a requirement.
The main responsibility is the daily care of the animals and the farm. This includes but is not limited to daily feeding, cleaning stables and all related areas.
Care for chickens and manage the egg production according to established protocols.
Conduct monthly inventories of animal feed and all related supplies & equipment
Plan & Create paddocks and grazing schedule spring and summer for rotation every week for the sheep and goats.
Prepare & assist at visits by owner, consultant, veterinarian, sheep shearer, etc.
Conduct/assist with Tensil tests.
Conduct/assist with cutting animals hooves according to schedule & need
Answer questions about the animals' everyday life and general condition.
Care for animals in case of injuries or disease, including giving medication via shots.
Take care of supplies and materials for the office, the stables, and other items according to the wishes of the owner.
Other responsibilities at Island:
General inspection and assistance to owner or owner's request through manager with plants, irrigation, repairs and maintenance of buildings, machinery, and vehicles.
Carry out inventories and mark up for reporting to manager and keeping lists(s) for necessary purchases. Notify the manager when major repairs are needed and/or when new parts need to be ordered.
Carry out project work requested by owner / and or manager on owner's directive. For example, building new fences, gates, feed holders or other related projects.
Storage and care of boats and all other equipment on the island.
Salary negotiable depending on experience and skill set. Accommodations are provided on island.
