About the roleWe are seeking you, who arean experienced Director of Engineering, tolead and have direct staff responsibility of our diverse R&D teams, including DBAs, ensuring that all projects align with business values and are completed on time. The ideal candidate will focus on enhancing productivity, quality, recruiting new team members and coaching across various departments.

This role requires technical knowledge and experience but will mainly be about managing people, and not the product.

Your responsibilities

• Department Management: Oversee and coordinate the activities of various R&D departments, including software development, quality assurance, security engineering, DevOps/infrastructure, and database teams.
• Staff Development: Conduct one-on-one meetings, provide coaching, take part in recruitment, and manage staff development to foster a high-performing team environment. Build and scale teams, both on-site and remote. This would include some traveling to other countries.
• Performance Monitoring: Implement metrics to monitor team performance, quality and productivity, identifying areas for improvement and help develop processes and best practice.
• Stakeholder Communication: Maintain open communication with stakeholders to ensure project alignment with business values.

Some of the other responsibilities that this role will include

• Collaboration with Product Managers: Oversee product managers running individual teams to ensure cohesive project execution and alignment with company goals.
• Productivity and Deadlines: Ensure teams meet productivity goals and project deadlines while aligning with business objectives.

Who are you?

• You have proven experience as an Engineering Manager, Director of Engineering, or a similar leadership role, with direct responsibility for cross-functional R&D teams.
• You demonstrate strong leadership skills, with a focus on team development, coaching, quality, and productivity.
• You possess excellent communication and organizational abilities, with a direct approach and experience in making tough decisions.
• You are skilled in managing multiple departments and projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
• You hold a bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field, or have equivalent technical experience, such as prior work as a software developer.
• You are fluent in both verbal and written English and Swedish.
