Steering Column HW – Let’s introduce ourselves The Steering Column HW Team is part of the Deceleration & Steering Department within Vehicle Platform. We are a Centre of Excellence aiming to provide safe and robust solutions in a sustainable way, creating a stunning car experience. The Steering Column HW Team is responsible for the development, integration and verification of the Steering Column and Intermediate shaft. We are responsible to deliver a product that complies with all legal and safety requirements and satisfy our stakeholders demands, such as Passive Safety, Vehicle Dynamics, Ergonomics, NVH and more.  We are currently working with innovative technologies like the steer-by-wire systems. What you’ll do As an Electrical Hardware Engineer, you will be responsible for developing, and implementing hardware solutions that enhance steering performance, safety, and reliability. This role requires expertise in electrical engineering, automotive systems, and a deep understanding of steering technologies. Other Responsibilities -    Hardware Design: Set requirements, design and develop electronic hardware for automotive steering systems, including electric power assisted steering system (EPAS), steer-by-wire systems, steering angle sensor and steering column adjustment motors. -    Circuit Design: Set requirements, design and develop analogue and digital circuit designs for steering control units, sensors, and actuators. -    Component Selection: Select and validate electronic components and materials to ensure optimal performance and reliability of steering systems. -    Schematic and PCB Layout: Set requirements, design and develop schematics and printed circuit board (PCB) layouts, ensuring compliance with industry standards and design guidelines. -    Prototyping: Build and test prototypes of steering hardware components, ensuring they meet design specifications and performance requirements. -    Testing and Validation: Validate comprehensive test plans for hardware testing, including functional testing, environmental testing, and electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) testing. -    Failure Analysis: Perform root cause analysis of hardware failures and implement corrective actions to enhance the robustness and reliability of steering systems. -    Compliance and Standards: Ensure hardware designs comply with automotive industry standards, such as ISO 26262 for functional safety and ISO 16750 for environmental conditions and testing. -    Collaboration: Work closely with software engineers, mechanical engineers, and other cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of hardware and software components. -    Documentation: Create and maintain detailed documentation for hardware designs, development processes, and testing procedures. Ensure documentation is up-to-date and aligns with industry best practices. -    Continuous Improvement: Stay abreast of the latest advancements in automotive hardware technology. Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and the adoption of new methodologies and tools. What you’ll bring We are looking for someone with proven experience in hardware development within the automotive industry, specifically related to steering systems. You have experience in creating comprehensive development plans, defining testing strategies, and estimating resource efforts. You can prioritize HW development activities based on project requirements and deadlines. Other requirements: -    Bachelor’s or master’s degree in electrical engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related field. -    Proven experience in hardware development within the automotive industry, specifically related to steering systems. -    Proficiency in analog and digital circuit design. -    Experience with PCB design and layout tools. -    Knowledge of automotive communication protocols (CAN, LIN). -    Familiarity with hardware validation and testing methodologies. -    Understanding of functional safety standards (ISO 26262) and environmental testing standards (ISO 16750). -    Experience with electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) testing and mitigation techniques.
