Role Overview:
The Quality Technician will play a pivotal role in ensuring the highest standards of quality and performance for our boats.
This position demands an individual with extensive knowledge of boats, including their systems, components, and operational characteristics.
You will be responsible for conducting and overseeing sea trials, performing rigorous inspections, and ensuring that all vessels meet or exceed safety and quality standards before they are delivered to customers.
This role will also support other quality processes.
Key Responsibilities:
Conducting Sea Trials:
- Plan, organize, and execute sea trials to assess performance, handling, and safety.
- Operate boats during sea trials, ensuring that all systems are functioning correctly and efficiently under real-world conditions.
- Identify, document, and report any issues or irregularities observed during the trials, including engine performance, navigation systems, hull integrity, and other critical components.
Quality Inspections:
- Perform detailed inspections of boats before, during, and after sea trials, focusing on key areas such as structural integrity, mechanical systems, electrical systems, and overall build quality.
- Utilize diagnostic tools and equipment to assess the functionality of all boat systems.
- Collaborate with engineering and production teams to address and resolve any defects or issues identified.
Documentation & Reporting:
- Maintain comprehensive records of all sea trials, including test parameters, results, and any corrective actions taken.
- Prepare detailed reports on the quality and performance of boats, providing insights and recommendations for improvement.
- Ensure that all documentation meets regulatory and company standards.
Training of operators
- Hold training sessions for operators
- Ensure that operators understand and follow the routines that are set up
Safety Compliance:
- Ensure that all sea trials and related activities are conducted in compliance with safety regulations and company policies.
- Identify and mitigate potential safety hazards during sea trials.
Qualifications:
- Technical degree or extensive experience in Marine Technology, Boat Building, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in the marine industry, with a strong focus on boat quality control, sea trials, or marine systems.
- Extensive hands-on experience with boat operations, including a deep understanding of boat mechanics, electrical systems, and hull design.
Skills:
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Proficient in the use of diagnostic tools and equipment specific to marine applications.
- Excellent problem-solving abilities with a proactive approach to identifying and resolving issues.
- Effective communication skills in english, both written and verbal, can create detailed reports and communicate technical information clearly.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting, climbing, and standing for extended periods.
- Comfortable working in varying weather conditions during sea trials.
