The Vattenfall Staff Function IT is an international unit within the Vattenfall Group. We are a full-service IT provider. Our IT services range from process and application consulting, to software development, implementation projects and the operation of IT applications. About 2000 employees located in Germany, Poland, the Netherlands and Sweden contribute daily to our international business success.

Your job as Automation Engineer

IT plays a crucial role within Vattenfall to enable our transition to fossil freedom and secure stable operations. Automation has an essential part in this journey. We rely on you, as our Automation Engineer, to allow IT operations within Vattenfall to be on top of the change!

In your role as Hands-On DevOps Automation engineer you will provide guidance on the build of solutions to enhance availability, performance and stability of the Automation platforms. You will need to balance service reliability, platform development and delivery speed. You will work with the team in building software delivery pipelines, deploy and monitor services, respond to alerts & notifications and learn from incidents. This is a role within the Central Automation team with an end-to-end responsibility across the entire platform.

Furthermore, you will:

  • Support in transformation/implementation of business needs/requirements into automation solutions
  • Build software pipelines, deploy and monitor services, respond to alerts & notifications
  • Work with the engineers from network/storage/compute/applications etc. to develop & maintain the automations
  • Work with the team when it comes to automation topics regarding best practices, defining frameworks, organizing workshops, etc
  • Deliver orchestrated workflows within the right process leveraging CI/CD, DevSecOps, Software Development Lifecycle and the vRealize Suite along with other 3rd party systems to achieve it
  • Participate in on-call shifts for high available automated workflows
  • Run automation platform upgrades & migrations
  • Develop, release and support automation code for the SDDC platform
  • Take end to end responsibility for the automation platform and related services

Qualifications

Who are we looking for?

An experienced Automation Engineer meeting most of the following requirements:

  • Academic degree or a comparable training with several years of experience
  • Experience with the VMware stack. Especially vRealize Automation & Orchestrator 7.x/8.x
  • Writing Workflows and Actions in VMware vRealize Orchestrator 8.x
  • Knowledge/Experience with industry standard automation tools. Ansible, Terraform, Saltstack etc
  • Knowledge/Experience with Collaboration stack i.e., Source Code Management tools (Gitlab, AzureDevOps.), Issue Tracking tools, CI/CD pipelines etc
  • Experience with scripting languages such as Python , PowerShell , Ansible
  • Handle Vendor Support Interactions
  • Knowledge & Exposure to Data Center Technologies & Automation
  • Business-fluent in English
