Being part of Battery Optimization and Monitoring - Technology Battery Optimization and Monitoring – Technology is a function within Volvo Energy that works with second life applications of vehicle battery packs, monitoring and data analytics, optimization of remaining useful life, battery safety and new offerings for Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS). Working in very close cooperation with our colleagues from Volvo Group and especially Group Trucks Technology, we create new business offer opportunities as well as value propositions. What are we looking for in this specific role? We are looking for a devoted development engineer with extensive experience within the automotive and BESS industry. The ideal candidate will have a broad experience in design, installation, verification, analysis, and production of various high-voltage battery systems. If you have worked with electric hardware, battery management systems, testing, safety, and manufacturing of energy storage systems, you may be the perfect fit! Your starting point will be to: * Lead the design and development of our stationary and mobile BESS applications, from ideation to delivery. * Be responsible for the implementation and guidance of basic and detailed engineering activities. * Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop layouts, designs, and integration of individual components in a battery energy storage system, ensuring compatibility, including battery systems, PCS, and control systems. * Take ownership from concept through implementation, testing, and commissioning, including system architecture, control strategies, safety systems, hardware, software, network components, and cybersecurity. * Define and secure system requirements and specifications in collaboration with cross-functional teams. * Oversee the development and testing of hardware and software components. * Develop and execute test plans throughout the project lifecycle and perform component, sub-system, and system-level testing to validate performance, safety, and security against customer, industry, and regulatory requirements. * Lead technical reviews and provide guidance to project teams on design decisions. * Handle cross-functional coordination between engineering and internal stakeholders to ensure smooth integration of required components. Troubleshoot issues and facilitate the implementation of necessary changes. We will be a small team and therefore look for colleagues that thoroughly enjoy this intrapreneurial challenge, can hit the ground running and lead with passion, perform with purpose and transform with vision.  Moreover, it will be essential you have a strong ability to form trustful relationships to effectively collaborate with partners - inside and outside of the Volvo Group – in a cross-functional manner.  If our entrepreneurial spirit, adaptability, and customer-focused mindset light your inner fire, we might be a great match!  Qualifications likely required to be successful  * Bachelor’s or master’s degree in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, or a related field. * Minimum of 7 years of experience in system design and development within the automotive or energy storage industry. * Extensive experience in battery technology for storage applications (battery, LV-inverter, transformer, or controls), battery systems, modules, subcomponents, or power conversion systems (PCS) or controls. * Good knowledge of EU and US standards, regulations, grid codes, and market requirements. * Strong knowledge of batteries and battery systems, with a focus on lithium technology. * Strong communication and presentation skills and a self-organized way of working. * Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment. * Certification and practical work experience in electrical safety and high-voltage battery systems.  Ready for the next move?
