Who are we? Volvo Cars is a company on a mission; to bring traditional car manufacturing into a connected, sustainable and smart future. Since 1927, we have been a brand known for our commitment to safety, creating innovative cars that make life less complicated for our consumers. In 2010, we decided to transform our business, resulting in a totally new generation of cars and technologies, as well as steady growth and record sales. Today, we’re expanding our global footprint in Europe, China and the US, and we’re on the lookout for new talent. We are constantly pushing our own skills and abilities to drive change in the automobile industry like never before. We are looking for innovative, committed people to join us in this endeavour and create safe, sustainable and connected cars. We believe in the power of people and will challenge and support you to reach your full potential. Join us and be part of Volvo Cars’ journey into the future. Who We Are We imagine that our friends and family are transported in a personal, sustainable, and safe way. We visualize an environmentally friendly car that autonomously drives us to work or takes our children to school, making us feel perfectly fine about it. What we build is a self-driving, fully electric, connected, and super safe Volvo Car. However, the software architecture in our latest cars is complex, necessitating a new platform to advance the next level of an electric, autonomous, connected, and safe vehicle. This new platform will feature a software-centric architecture, a built-in core computer to run every application in the car, a centralized signal system, scalable software architecture, continuous deployment, over-the-air data updates, and real-time decision-making for autonomous drive. What You'll Do As a high performance C++ Developer based in Gothenburg, your role is pivotal to developing the High-Performance chipset that supports and enables other ART’s contributions. You will work in an environment where development does not always follow a clear process, allowing you to set the standard for Software Development within Volvo Cars alongside your team and the rest of the ART. You will interface with various ARTs and teams within our R&D organization, requiring creativity, agility, and excellent people skills. Success in this role also hinges on empathy, openness, and a willingness to share, fostering growth for you and your agile team. Who You Are You hold a B.Sc. degree or higher in Software Engineering or equivalent experience, with over 5 years of C++ (or other OOP language) development in a Linux environment. You possess experience with test methodologies like unit, system, and integration testing, and proficiency in technologies such as CI/CD tools, Git bash, Git, Gerrit, JIRA, Jenkins, Polyspace, Python, Confluence, Teamcenter, and CarWeaver. Additional desirable experience includes automotive experience, SAFe experience, ISO26262 understanding, and cyber security knowledge.
