This is a full-time position with placement in Stockholm, Sweden.


Job Description

We are looking for a skilled and experienced Unit Lead Engineer – POS to manage and oversee the design and development of software applications which are primarily in transition, targeted for decommission or are strategic in nature to H&M and require ongoing maintenance and support. You will be responsible for and focused on managing and operating the legacy POS systems to ensure continued operations with no/minimum downtime. As Unit Lead Engineer – POS you will develop improvements to user experience to minimize disruptions while leading and directing the work of engineers to ensure the best practices around software development.

As Unit Lead Engineer – POS you will strive to keep the lights on and ensure continuity of operations, stability, security of the application. Some of your responsibilities will include:

  • Lead a large collection of several applications from the value streams to ensure constant maintenance & seamless performance. (incl. cloud, H&M applications & data)
  • Create and manage execution plans and risk plans at scrum and portfolio level
  • Lead, develop and support a team of software engineers, managing the hiring, staffing and maintenance of a diverse and effective workforce and the career development and performance management of the team
  • Communicate technical expertise, stay current and up-to-date with industry trends and advancements in POS technology
  • Influence enterprise architecture from a software and data standpoint
  • Can represent applications for software maintenance and security in various steering committees
  • Identify and report on key KPIs for software development and maintenance
  • Identify, engage, and manage relationships between our client and 3rd party software design, development, testing, QA and related partners
  • Software architecture definition for ongoing optimization of core maintenance applications

Qualifications

We believe you have 10 + years of experience as a leading engineering manager, preferably within retail or e-commerce, using and implementing modern technologies in complex organisations at scale. You have strong leadership skills with experience as staff responsible and you excel at stakeholder management collaboration across business units. We also believe you have the ability to practice creative and critical thinking by adding ideas and solutions to ongoing challenges with outstanding troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving thinking. In addition to this you have deep understanding and knowledge within:

  • Proven experience in a lead engineering role with a focus on POS systems
  • Experience with various development environments, versioning tools, and testing automation
  • Transformation management
  • DevOps and agile methodology
  • Proficiency in Enterprise Architecture and storage concepts
  • Tech service management & delivery/Technology Platform Management
  • Understanding of and experience with large, multi-faceted and complex systems and platforms
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills (English spoken and written required)
