The Department of Microtechnology and Nanoscience focuses on research, innovation and education within the fields of future electronics, photonics, bio- and nanosystems. A close collaboration with Swedish and international partners within academia, industry and society enables scientific excellence and creates an innovative environment. In addition to the 200 researchers and PhD students, MC2 houses a cleanroom for micro- and nanofabrication with the latest equipment. In the Hybrid Quantum Systems Laboratory, we develop quantum technologies for sensing and tests of fundamental physics. If you have a passion for highly collaborative, experimental research this is for you! The aim of the project is to develop spin sensors that use optomechanical readout of ultrahigh-Q nanomechanical resonators. Strained nanomechanical resonators have reached state-of-the-art force sensitivities, but are composed of dielectric materials. We now seek to functionalize these resonators with nanomagnets for spin sensing and combine this with on-chip optical readout. These systems can be applied for biosensing and material characterization. The Hybrid Quantum Systems Laboratory is a new laboratory at Chalmers. We offer a newly renovated lab space and a state-of-the-art nanofabrication facility. As a postdoctoral researcher, your main responsibilities are to lead and conduct research in collaboration with others, and to coach PhD students. You will be expected to develop your skills, the team, and contribute with your creative ideas. We value a collaborative attitude and an interest in working both independently and collaboratively in a team environment, sharing best practices and assuming responsibility. Self-motivation, attention to detail, and a creative problem-solving ability are important personal qualities for these positions. We highly value a collaborative spirit, a commitment to inclusive teamwork, and a drive for continuous learning and professional growth, ensuring a supportive environment for all team members. Qualifications  A Ph.D. in • Physics • Applied Physics • Nanotechnology • Photonics • Electrical Engineering or other relevant field is required. Experience with any of the following is beneficial: • Optics • Photonics • Optomechanics • Nanofabrication • Nanomechanics • Nanomagnets • Cryogenics Fluency in written and spoken English is necessary. If you are unsure about your qualifications, please contact us. Contract terms This postdoc position is a full-time temporary employment for two years.
