We are looking for a experienced Head of Health and Safety to join us in our mission to contribute to a greener future. The role is a part of our passionate HSE team based in Skellefteå. By joining us, you will be a key player in ramping up Northvolt Ett and contribute to building one of the first large scale European battery factories.

As Head of Health and Safety, you will be responsible for providing professional health and safety leadership within Northvolt Ett to all employees. You will support and advise the management teams, employees and where, applicable ,contractors. You will be a key player in improving performance through the implementation of health and safety management systems, including ISO 45001, and other current standards and legislation. You will also design, deliver and maintain a health and safety programme to embed and drive a positive safety culture across the organisation.

Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Support and guide Health Safety and Environmental managers in team management
  • Develop and maintain the Management System for health and safety
  • Actively manage compliance with external demands and internal objectives
  • Develop risk reduction strategies for practices, procedures, and facilities
  • Support the Health and Safety and Audit teams towards world-class standards
  • Ensure Health and Safety team meets organizational objectives
  • Act as Deputy for the HSE Director when needed
  • Set strategic direction for health and safety management and wellbeing programs
  • Review and develop NV Ett's health, safety, and wellbeing policies
  • Monitor, evaluate, and review upcoming Health and Safety legislation
  • Establish and maintain continual improvement programs
  • Collaborate with departments for health, safety, and wellbeing management
  • Work with Health and Safety Manager and Specialists/Engineers for compliance control
  • Implement rigorous risk assessment and incident management systems
  • Oversee audits and establish action plans for identified issues
  • Maintain an effective health and safety training regime

Skills & Requirements

Qualifications:

  • University degree and 8+ years of professional HSE experience in safety critical, manufacturing industry, preferably from automotive ML1] SL2], chemical, pharmaceutical or other high hazard industries
  • A NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent in Occupational Health and Safety
  • Good understanding of Swedish legal guidelines in health and safety
  • Excellent demonstrable experience of internationally recognised tools and processes for human performance and cultural transformation
  • Ability to standardize work, produce reports and develop relevant policies
  • Good knowledge of data analysis and risk assessment
  • Documented experience in leading of leaders and in coaching teams and individuals
  • A suitable, relevant and recognised member of a professional body in Occupational Health and Safety

Specific skills:

  • Good knowledge and experience of European and especially Swedish legislation
  • Deep knowledge in the requirements of ISO 14001 and ISO 45001
  • The ability to communicate guidelines to a multi-disciplinary and multi-cultural workforce is essential.
  • Excellent English and preferably Swedish written and oral skills, other languages is a plus
