We are now looking for an experienced Data Engineer to join our Analytics Engineering team to help us evolve our data warehouse, data modelling and our data consumer interfaces. The Analytics Engineering team is a part of the Data Platform area - our division dedicated to building our data, infrastructure and insights platform.

How you will make an impact

Join an organisation with passionate Data Engineers and Data Scientists at an early stage of the company's history. This is a chance to be part of building a data analytics platform that scales worldwide and supports Epidemic Sound to stay ever more data-informed. In this senior role, you will play a pivotal part in evolving our data warehouse, unlocking insights from a diverse array of sources to fuel innovation and growth.

Our data stack is built on Google Cloud Platform and part of our solution stack includes BigQuery as a data warehouse, Cloud Composer (Airflow) for orchestration, Snowplow for event tracking, Dataflow for data processing, dbt Core for data transformation, and Looker as our BI layer.

You can expect to:

  • Lead and collaborate with a talented and diverse team to build and enhance our data warehouse, core data sets, and data consumer interfaces.

  • Design, build and maintain the Epidemic Sound core data models and guide, encourage, and educate stakeholders on how to use these.

  • Drive data architecture, ensuring adherence to best practices and fostering a culture of excellence in data management.

  • Act as a strategic partner to engineering and analytics teams, delivering high-quality data sets and fostering data-informed decision-making.

  • Mentor and guide junior team members, sharing your expertise and promoting continuous learning and growth.

  • Continuously explore and adopt new technologies and best practices to improve our data architecture and consumption layer as well as team productivity.

In order for you to thrive in this role, we believe that you have:

  • Strong proficiency in SQL, dbt and data modelling

  • Proficiency in Python and Git

  • Expertise in cloud-based data warehouses such as BigQuery, along with a strong proficiency in query design aimed at optimising performance within these environments

  • Strong business acumen coupled with a product-oriented mindset

You definitely have the following:

  • Follow software engineering best practices in your work

  • A passion for sharing your knowledge and teaching others what you know

  • The ability to communicate in English with professional working proficiency

Nice to have experience:

  • Experience in any of the following tooling: Apache Airflow, Looker, Snowplow, Mixpanel, Hex, OpsGenie

  • Having been part of a scale-up company
