HVDC (High Voltage Direct Current) is a business unit within Hitachi Energy, located in Ludvika. The unit develops, manufactures and sells DC transmission systems on a global market. HVDC technology is used to transmit electricity over long distances and for power transmission via submarine cables. HVDC is also used to connect power grids, e.g., between countries.

HVDC is now searching for a Category Manager to join the team. In this role, you will be working in close collaboration with Global Category Managers for both Contingent Labor and Engineering Services in order to make sure that processes and tools are used according to Hitachi Energy’s global Procurement set up’s. You will also be responsible for planning, developing, and implementing Procurement & Logistics (PL) strategy for external consultant services in Projects, making sure local labor law is complied with, and with focus on optimizing costs, quality, delivery and reliability of suppliers and their consultants.

Your responsibilities

  • Ensure that the business adheres to process and tools for Engineering Services and Contingent Labor in each country.
  • Identify opportunities to reduce costs.
  • Contribute to streamlining processes and driving initiatives to create more efficient processes.
  • Monitor and enforce contract compliance.
  • Follow local frame agreements when dealing with Frame Agreement Suppliers, and coordinate requests for new frame agreements with the responsible Category Manager.
  • Be actively involved in planning external consultants for site services.
  • Research the local market and develop a sourcing strategy.
  • Build and maintain effective relationships with Subcontractors and evaluating their performance with focus on quality and HSE.

Your background

  • Work experience with similar tasks as described above is required.
  • You preferably have an academic degree in a relevant field: Supply Chain Management, Business & Administration, or Engineering (or equivalent work experience).
  • You are a team player with strong communicative and collaborative skills who likes to interact with other people.
  • You have good organizational skills and can handle several tasks in parallel.
  • Fluency in English, both written and spoken. Knowledge of Swedish or any other language is considered an additional asset.

The placement for this role is Västerås or Ludvika, Sweden.
