The European Spallation Source (ESS) is a partnership of 13 European countries with the mission to design, construct and operate the world’s most powerful neutron source. We are now looking to appoint a summer worker for the Controls Infrastructure Group within the Information Technology Division. We are currently seeking sharp, personable, highly-organized summer worker who are looking for an opportunity to grow their technical and professional skills while building a career. The Controls Infrastructure Group is responsible for managing and maintaining the operational technology infrastructure of ESS. This includes overseeing the hardware, software, networks, and systems that support the organization's IT operations. About the work You will learn from the best in the industry and work on substantial projects with real world implications, getting hands-on with digital technologies. As a summer worker with the Systems Support Administrator role, your main areas of work will be tasked to improve our monitoring of computer systems and alert notifications. You will also be required to update and test deployment of software in development environments on a new Linux distribution. You will also be required to clean up and organize our digital environment in the form of Confluence. You will also be tasked with reviewing content, and marking them for removal, update or proposing an updated format. About you A suitable background for this work would be: • Enrolled at university, following an undergraduate degree in one of following faculties: Computer Science, Engineering, Electronics, Telecommunications & Information Technology • Experience with editing content Sharepoint, Confluence, Wiki or similar software • Familiar with Linux distributions (Ubuntu, Debian, Mandriva, etc.) and command line • Experience in developing software with Go or Python programming languages • Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code and an orchestration tool such as Ansible or Puppet would be beneficial • Good written and verbal communications skills in English We attach great importance to personality and attitude, so we're looking for a real team player: Someone who is sociable, has excellent communication skills and who likes to collaborate with different people.  Duration & Location The position is a summer work position with a duration of 12 weeks.  Your work place will be situated in Lund, Sweden.  Start date Planned start is in June, 2024.   Application & Contact Please provide your curriculum vitae in English by clicking on “apply” and follow the instructions. Please note that we only accept applications via the ESS website.
