General description

Full-time entry-level position in R&D with a one-year contract.

This is an excellent position for anyone looking to start and build a career in food R&D and product development. A successful candidate thrives in a dynamic product development environment. This position is expected to be fulfilled onsite as it involves working mostly in our laboratory facilities.

The R&D Lab Technician will be responsible for preparing, executing and reporting of laboratory-scale prototyping and characterisation of plant-based cheese products and its subcomponents. Under guidance from senior members of the team, you will perform laboratory-scale experimental plans for prototyping and characterisation of the products using sensory, microscope, rheometer, pH, or other relevant methods .

Tasks

  • Performing of laboratory scale prototyping of plant based (cheese)
  • Perform characterisation of plant-based cheese products, semi-finished products or raw materials (texture, sensory, rheology, microscopy, etc)
  • Organize and keep track of analysis performed by external laboratory (microbiology, shelf-life, etc)
  • Recording of raw results of experiments in structured manner
  • Reporting of obtained results in (graphical) overview ready for interpretation
  • Reporting of additional observations during the experimental work that could be relevant to data interpretation.
  • Participate in evaluation of results with the experimental plan owner.
  • Execute experimental plans by carefully and precisely applying the required techniques according to procedures and protocols.
  • Keep equipment in good working conditions. Ensure that maintenance and calibration of the equipment complies with the required standards.
  • Maintain and upkeep R&D lab including, equipment maintenance, cleanliness, organization, restocking of supplies.
  • Propose improvements of the laboratory ways of working, including technical, logistical and Environment, Health and Safety procedures.
  • Other tasks as assigned.


Required Skills

  • BS in Food Science or other applied science
  • Practical lab manipulations knowledge and experience required, from previous work experience or as part of education
  • Accurate data entry, documentation, following the procedures is a must
  • Excellent organizational and administrative skills
  • Capable of organizing resources for conduct of experiments
  • Capable of multitasking and keeping track of multiple projects with different timelines.
  • Willing to reach out and ask questions for clarification.
  • Ability to adapt and pivot quickly due to changing priorities.
  • Result-oriented, with a proactive mentality and a can-do attitude
  • Team player, and good communication skills. Good English level.
