Department of Forest Resource Management We are looking for someone who thrives outdoors, can work both independently and in a group, and wants to be involved in carrying out field measurements for our project related to forest fire risk. About the position You will conduct field measurements in pre-defined network of field plots, especial focus on measuring forest fuels (related to forest fire risk) and dead wood, but also positioning newest plots. Work can also include planning the inventory and post-inventory data management. Data collection is connected to existing research project and to long term monitoring of Remningstorp super-testsite. The work will be carried out during the period May-July (by agreement) and implies approximately 15 days of fieldwork in total. Your profile We are looking for highly motivated candidates with field experience (forest measurements via work or education e.g. in forest science, biology or similar). You can navigate and work in variating weather conditions. You are accurate and can work both independently and in a team. Driving licence and good English communication are required. GIS-skills and general interest to nature are merit. Work can be combined with master thesis related to remote sensing, especially mapping risk for forest fire. About us The Department of Forest Resource Management conducts research and teaching within the subject areas of Forest Remote Sensing, Forest Inventory and Sampling, Mathematical Statistics Applied to Forest Sciences, Forest Management Planning, and Landscape Studies. The Department is responsible for several environmental monitoring and assessment programmes, including the National Forest Inventory, National Inventory of Landscapes in Sweden, and Terrestrial Habitat Monitoring.
