You will be an important resource in the team and contribute to the deliveries with your effort and knowledge. As a team member you will participate in both architectural discussions, feature development, development of automatic tests as well as in team planning.

The team is an essential contributor to the ABB's next generation control products based on a newly developed platform, supporting the latest industry communication protocols with demands from both security and safety standards.

The team's main responsibilities are application compilation and download, embedded execution environment, alarm and event handling, security architecture, 1131 libraries, controller loop and auto-tuning implementation, application distribution.

This position is graded as R&D Engineer or R&D Senior Engineer.

Your responsibilities

• Solving complex industrial problems, and reviewing current technologies to choose effective applications, equipment and methods for new products or software
• Performing a variety of complex technology/engineering assignments, typically utilizing advanced, innovative techniques
• Training junior team members when needed, and heading up or participating in projects
• Keeping up to date with technologies, tools and methods, and implementing initiatives to improve operations and customer satisfaction
• Providing expert assistance for projects and colleagues, acting as a mentor and disseminating lessons learned
• Providing consulting services to business operations and customers, and representing the group/team in engineering
• Developing project IP strategies, as well as identifying and managing risks in R&D projects

Your background

• 2-5 years of experience in software development
• Sound knowledge of agile development, continuous integration
• Software design and design of automatic tests
• Knowledge of industrial automation, OPC UA, 1131 language, and embedded development is meritorious
• A solution-focused approach and strong written and spoken communication skills
• A B. Sc, or M. Sc in Electrical Engineering or Data Science or similar
