We regard gender equality and diversity as a strength and an asset. MAX IV is looking for one summer worker to work as a part of the APXPS team at MAX IV Laboratory. Currently, the team consists of 10 members working at HIPPIE and SPECIES beamlines. Both beamlines are equipped with Ambient Pressure X-ray photoemission spectroscopy (APXPS) endstations and provide a range of sample environments that enable studies of catalytic, electrochemical and atomic layer deposition (ALD) systems under realistic conditions. Both beamlines are in user operation providing unique possibilities to scientists around the world. The APXPS team is looking for a Summer student who will: - Active participation in the commissioning of the APXPS endstations at HIPPIE and SPECIES beamlines. - Active participation in the calibration measurements of X-ray sources and data analysis. - Active participation in the calibration of mass-spectrometers (QMS and ToF). - Active participation in the development of sample environments at both HIPPIE and SPECIES beamline. Your main work tasks will be: - Assisting the beamline team with the commissioning and development projects at the beamlines - Contributing to the day-to-day operations of the beamlines and endstations under the supervision of the APXPS team - Acquiring knowledge necessary to operate the tool available at the beamlines - Acquire knowledge about and follow general and organisational safety rules and requirements To be successful in this role, you need to have the following qualifications:  - BSc in one of the STEM areas. - Knowledge of ultra-high vacuum instrumentation is considered an advantage. - Knowledge of surface science measurements is considered an advantage. The successful candidate should also be able to demonstrate the ability to work in a team and good communication skills.
