In the light of the growing service business opportunities in greater Scandinavia as well as the ongoing contract for servicing H2 Green Steel, the first climate neutral steel plant in northern Sweden, SMS group is looking for a Site Director “Operation & Maintenance”. Position Description The primary goal for the Site Director “Operation & Maintenance” is to establish and manage the ongoing contract throughout the operational phase using SMS group’s lifecycle partnership approach. This includes the implementation of all agreed contract components as well as all necessary operating procedures and mandatory SMS business processes, their systems, and standards from an operational excellence point of view, taking into consideration an appropriate risk management. Contract components could be e.g. but not limited to: recruitment of personnel and sub-contractors for the operation & maintenance organization in close cooperation with HR, timely procurement of required equipment, tooling and spare parts, set-up on-site and off-site offices, commissioning of workshops, storage facilities and working areas, coordination of consulting team etc. In the longer term the Site Director “Operation & Maintenance” will transform into a more commercial and business-oriented position with responsibility to grow and establish new operational contracts and sites within Sweden and/or Scandinavia. Main responsibilities: • Be the first & direct contact as well as trusted advisor to our lifecycle partner and coordinate all internal and external stakeholders • Managing and coordinating a multi-disciplined workforce during the operational phase of the business to meet the contractual obligations within contractual timelines • Manage and control the day-to-day business during the operational phase and ensure compliance to operational procedures and SMS group business processes • Track, monitor and adjust all working criteria to ensure compliance to the contractual obligations and corresponding internal & external KPI´s • Continuously look for improvement potentials and communicate to group management Qualifications • Sc. or M.Sc. in Engineering or similar or a business history with a strong technical / operational background (e.g. workshop operation) in metals industry • At least + 8 year´s within iron & steel industry, mining or process industry • Holds a proven track record from senior management positions within operation & maintenance and with a clear understanding of Operational Excellence incl. Reliability Engineering strategies and Systems • Entrepreneur at heart, hands-on with a strong degree of independence and readiness to perform beyond benchmarks • Personal competences and characteristics in leading project teams (e.g. empathy, assertiveness, conflict management, motivation) • Proven experience in training, coaching and supporting others (project teams, customers, etc.) • Knowledge of ERP/IT systems and business applications • Candidate who can demonstrate active experience and knowledge within either an operational or maintenance role, specifically in the fields of casting and/or Hot/cold rolling will have an advantage • Willingness to travel periodically About SMS Group SMS group is a global active group of companies with a 150 years history that stands for future-oriented technology and outstanding service, combining plant engineering and process knowledge with profound expertise in automation & digitalization, for the metals industry.
