The artistic director of the Royal Swedish Opera Tobias Theorell and Chorus master Jori Klomp invites to audition.
The Chorus of the Royal Swedish Opera is Sweden’s largest professional chorus and one of the oldest in the world, founded in 1773. The chorus consists of 54 full-time choristers who take part in the vast majority of all opera productions, which are performed throughout the season.
The position
Alto 2 full-time, permanent employment with probationary year commencing the 1st of July 2026 or by agreement.
Your profile
Details of education in music or postgraduate studies in opera are requested, and further details of experience as a member of an opera chorus are desirable.
You should have a good proficiency in either English or Swedish. If you cannot currently speak Swedish you are expected to learn.
Audition
Auditions will take place on Sunday the 22th of March 2026, by invitation and upon review of applications.

Mandatory aria:
O schöne Jugendtage (Der Evangelimann) - Wilhelm Kienzl
Two arias of your own choice in contrasting language and style to that of the mandatory aria.
The audition will also involve tests in sight-reading, chorus excerpts, stagecraft, an ensemble test and an interview.
