Vikingschakt AB is looking for an experienced excavator operator for groundworks related to underground power and fiber networks. You will operate both tracked and wheeled excavators, working together with a groundworker or in a larger team. The work includes trenching and laying of cables as part of building robust and long-lasting infrastructure.

Important: This job is based on projects across Sweden, mostly in remote locations. You will be away from home for extended periods of time.

Main tasks

• Excavate and prepare trenches for underground cable routes
• Lay power and fiber cables according to drawings and standards
• Keep a daily work log and plan tasks independently
• Ensure compliance with permits, safety procedures, and regulations
• Use digital tools for reporting and documentation

Requirements

• Valid excavator license (Swedish “yrkesbevis” or equivalent)
• Experience in groundworks for cable or fiber network construction
• Ability to read and follow construction drawings
• Skilled in operating both tracked and wheeled excavators
• Basic mechanical skills – able to perform simple repairs and routine maintenance on machinery
• Able to work independently and as part of a team
• Fluent in English (spoken and written); Swedish is a plus
• BE driver’s license
