The Engineering Graduate program
The Engineering Graduate Program at Volvo Group Trucks Technology is a global 12-month program where you are offered the perfect mix of on-the-job learning and diverse training modules. You will get the chance to use your technical and creative engineering skills while gaining valuable experience working with real products on real business challenges.
Besides your manager, who will guide and support you in your daily job, you will have a supportive network of peer graduates, colleagues across the globe and senior leaders to help you excel. We hope you will learn as much from us as we will from you.
How you will make an impact
In this role you will be part of one of the Android software development teams within EACS (Entertainment and Connected Services), focusing on developing Android applications for the secondary display used in many of our vehicles. Your primary responsibilities include developing high-quality, scalable, and maintainable software based on agreed design patterns and architecture. You will also conduct code reviews, share knowledge across teams, and continuously explore new technologies and skills.
In addition, you will contribute to the success of both your team and EACS by actively sharing knowledge within your team and across other functional teams. You are expected to continuously seek out new technologies, frameworks, and improve your soft skills to enhance your expertise. Following Scrum principles and guidelines in your daily work is essential, as well as developing various levels of tests (V1, V2, and V3) for the applications you create.
Who are you?
We are looking for the next generation of engineers who want to make a real difference to society. You are passionate about what you do, have a curious mind, and are willing to learn. Just like us, you thrive on teamwork and value collaboration. To succeed in this role, you should have a strong interest in Android development, knowledge of Google tools and Kotlin, and a solid grasp of programming. Python knowledge is an advantage, and any prior experience, whether from education, work, personal projects, or even extra-curricular activities related to technology and software development, is highly valued. A passion for development that goes beyond work, such as involvement in hackathons, open-source contributions, or other tech projects, is a plus and shows your dedication to growing as a developer.
To qualify for the Engineering Graduate program, you must have completed a master’s degree in computer science, Automation, Electrical engineering, Software Engineering or similar prior to the start of the program but not more than 18 months ago. You should not have more than two years' full-time working experience prior to starting. You also need to be fluent in English, both written and verbal.
