User Experience at Volvo Cars Volvo Cars is on an ambitious journey to redefine what it means to learn about and shop for our products across our digital touch points. We are looking for UX designers to create great experiences turning customer insights into impactful business solutions and great customer experiences. Lead Strategic Visual and Motion Design for Car User Experience at Volvo Cars As a design strategist your role will be to lead our transition to a sustainable platforms company by inspiring, informing & influencing our product roadmap decisions with qualitative and quantitative user data as well as with a deep understanding of cultural and behavioral trends.You will work together with the UX leadership team and the product organization to help us define “what makes a Volvo a Volvo” from a UX platform point of view, you will find ways to identify the embodiment of our guiding pillars and mission: “Freedom to move in a Personal, Sustainable and Safe Way”. As an effective communicator you will both listen to our internal and external partner’s priorities but also make them understand and empathize with the value of our decisions.  You will report to the Head of Car UX and will focus your work on guiding future initiatives, both on the near and long term What you will do As a Lead Visual Designer in the Car UX team, you will work on defining and building a safe and effortless experience for our users by conceptualizing, documenting and developing an on-brand, forward looking, human-centric and inspiring visual design strategy and guidelines. Your responsibilities will include: * Identifying problems to be solved, structure solutions in a systemic way, coach and mentor other visual and UX designers and educate and communicate with stakeholders of the organization both internally and externally. * Collaborating with other designers and ensure a seamless customer experience across Volvo’s digital landscape. * Communicating designs, ideas, and rationale with your team incorporating data and customer insights. * Advocating for the user and developing a deep understanding of our customer needs and pain-points. * Serving as an expert for stakeholders and developing ideas for new and enhanced features. * Developing technically-informed and people-focused hypotheses and designs on how to humanize the way to present driver centric information to our users. Location Gothenburg, Sweden ​​​​​​​Who are you? You have strong visual design skills and a track record that demonstrates how you create and build on top of existing design systems. The design challenges you will jump into will focus on how to most adequatly visualize and communicate different states of vehicle functionality and do it in a way that connects with the larger platform system. Your bread and butter will be to understand and untangle complex technical functionalities and requirements and structure them in a clear and glanceable way to our users. We believe that: * You have been designing for 15+ years for a consumer-focused tech company and general audiences consuming multi-media, so you understand what it takes to create elegant, consumer-oriented experiences. * You are a versatile designer who uses a full range of skills—product, interaction, service, visual, and motion design — to ensure you deliver magical experiences to the customer. * You are a strategic thinker, and look for ways of simplifying the experiences for the customer across a broad spectrum of touchpoints. * You’re a strong communicator who can inspire teams towards action and empathy for the user. * You are a strong collaborator, who can work with not only design parterns, but many other stakeholders from marketing to engineering.You have a people-focused design mentality​​​​​​​ Experience with motion graphic design and application of cinematic language to interface design and visual effects for games, television, and film is highly desirable.
